Dangerous Thoughts

“Some thoughts arrive like strangers I should fear, yet I open the door and let them linger.”

Thoughts like this can be dangerous;
wildfires in the dry brush of the mind,
sparking through the undergrowth,
where sanity and madness intertwine.

They flicker in the shadowed corners.
Glimmers that seduce and betray,
tempting with the forbidden fruit of ‘what if’.
Leading down a darker, untrodden way.

These thoughts are rebels without a cause,
chaos whisperers, stirring discontent.
Questioning the very fabric of reality.
Bending rules until they’re indistinctly bent.

Yet, there’s allure in the perilous depths,
in the abyss that stares right back.
For in the danger of such thoughts,
lies a freedom we often lack.

But tread lightly, for they can consume,
turn master when they were but a tool.
Drag you deeper into their vortex,
where fascination can turn cruel.

So, handle with care, these volatile sparks.
Keep them close but do not let them reign.
For thoughts like this, while dangerously sweet,
are tempests; beautiful, but untamed.

“The mind is both arsonist and sanctuary; what burns us may also set us free.”
